ABOUT ME

Hello and Welcome.
My name is Stephen DeLeon.

I am a guy in college who likes gadgets and small items that are unique, different, weird, fun, or just interesting. For example, I own a squishy lamp, a bed tent, and have tasted chocolate soda. These types of items are what I write about in this blog. Some of the items you will see are useful, but most are just fun to have and use.

I decided to write this blog because these items I write about have the ability to make you smile. In every post, I have personally had some experience with or owned at least one of the items. I love giving people unexpected gifts that they never knew they wanted. Each of these items can be a gift from you to friends as well.

My hope is that you will not just enjoy reading, but also know who Jesus truly is. Jesus is the most important Person in my life, and I encourage you to listen to the podcast for "It's the Bible." Below, I also have a short testimony, a story, of how I came to know Jesus.

My Testimony

I grew up in a family that always went to church, so my siblings and I knew about God and the Bible. However, I had a big fear: I was unsure of where I would go when I died. I did not know if I would go to heaven or hell, and I was scared that I might be going to hell. Thankfully, the Bible says in 1 John 5:13 that we can know for sure where we will go.

But first, I had to realize that I had a problem. I am a sinner. In the Bible, it is written, “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23). Sin is basically disobeying God’s Law. A few of those laws are to never kill, never worship false gods, never have sexual relations outside of marriage, and never lie. Every person who has sinned deserves God’s punishment. That punishment is hell. Just as killing one person makes that person a murder, a single lie makes that person a liar. In the Bible’s last book, we see that “all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). Even the liars will go to hell. I have lied many times in my life, and I am sure you have as well. This means you and I deserve to go to hell when we die.

It is important to note that God is Just. This means that as a Judge must punish lawbreakers, God must punish sinners. Thankfully, God is also loving. He loves us so much that he sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross (John 3:16). On that cross, He took on Himself all of my sin. He did this willingly as a gift for you and me, for the whole world.

What I had to realize is that I was a sinner who deserved to go to hell, but Jesus could save me. One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” All I had to do was believe that Jesus had died on that cross for me. I knew that Jesus died for the whole world, and that means everyone, including you and me. But I had to believe that Jesus had died for me. He had taken my place. I just had to accept this wonderful gift of salvation and eternal life with Him. Jesus already paid for it, I needed to believe that He did.

One evening, when I was about fifteen, I asked Jesus to rescue me from my sins. I knew He was the only way to get to heaven because of Titus 3:5 in the Bible: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy he saved us.” This verse says that none of our good works such as going to church, praying, giving gifts, or walking little old ladies across the street will save us. It is only because of God’s mercy, His sending Jesus to die, that we can get to heaven and have enteral life.

After I asked Jesus to rescue me from my sins, I finally had peace. That night, I knew for sure where I would be when I died. I know that I have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. My question is, do you? Do you know for sure where you will go when you die? I encourage you to think about this, and if you have questions, please reach out to me at bible@eshopdiscoveries.com. Jesus and what He did is good news for us. We call that good news the Gospel.
